DIAMOND CLARITY

Most diamonds contain very tiny birthmarks known as "inclusions." The clarity of a diamond is determined by the number and size of these blemishes or "flaws" and price adjusts accordingly with the flawless diamond being the most valuable. Most diamonds graded SI1 or better should have no visible inclusions to the naked eye but noticeable marks under a 10X magnification.

An inclusion can interfere with the light passing through the diamond and therefore the fewer or smaller the inclusions, the more beautiful the diamond will be and therefore the higher the price.
